Herd Sires

Sparky is probably the most interesting sire we have produced since GW Predestined 701T. Although, this is his first calf crop, it is very apparent what traits he is very prepotent in. Absolute calving ease, and a consistent phenotype stamp we haven’t seen since GW Premium Beef. The structure and soundness, the rib shape and depth of body is impressive.

Triple Crown is a real genetic wonder with a proven record of being in the top 10% of the IGS gene pool for 10 different traits. We would have a lot more of these bulls if he wasn’t a product of so many of our existing lines.

GW Breakthru maybe the best-looking mature bull we have produced to date. His ability to maintain himself because of his soundness, spring and depth of rib along with massive chest floor is impressive. He is a bull suitable for heifers that offers so much more. Look at is EPDs.

Very impressed with his first calf crop. His calves are moderate framed, long and sound. As you can see, several of the early lots are sired by him. Notice his spread and marbling epds.

A different pedigree with many good attributes on display with his first calf crop. They seem to have good feet, maybe more heal than most. Really like the do-ability and health of his calves. Excellent length and rib shape. Enough depth, but impressive spring behind shoulders. His epds fit our goals as well.

Movin On is the ultimate birth to yearling spread bull available in the hybrid data base. He carries a red gene so we have used him heavily on our red cattle, but he is a very unique genetic package. Moderate framed with incredible length of body, great disposition, and very athletic structure. He debunks the myth that growth only comes in a big birth package.

Purchased to juice up our calving ease, maternal calving ease and marbling epds. His progeny are long and sound. When studying our carcass data, our averages for marbling are right on the line between low choice and the premium markets. Bulls like Pendleton will take our cattle to that next step.

701T has proven to be a great bull, maybe the most influential proven hybrid bull in the database.  If he wouldn’t have carried the DD gene, he would still be in huge demand for semen sales.  He was born 13 years ago, and his figures still are among the best available.  When you see his influence in a pedigree, you know the longevity will be there, the carcass traits and performance will be good and the udders of the females will be as good as we can offer.

Premium Beef has been very dominant in our program because of consistency, length, disposition, overall functional type and structural soundness.  It was obvious early after seeing a calf crop or two, that we needed his influence in most of our cattle.  We have moved on to some of his sons now, but his offspring has given us many satisfied customers and many top cows.

Carry On is a well proven bull that sires moderate birth weights and explosive growth. Also, sires extreme length without add frame.

Marlboro Man is a great calving ease bull with enough growth to give you weight to sell later. His maternal traits are very impressive in terms of stay, maternal calving ease and milk. Look at his proven EPDs.

Predominate is a great terminal bull ranking in the top 1% for TI. Sires a consistent type with good feed, sound structure and smooth bone

Quantum Leap is a Due North son that produces more length and growth than his sire. Two characteristics that separate him from most growth bulls is his perfect feet and athletic structure, and his genetic potential for cow longevity. His first daughters look the part as they have great udders and are still moderate framed as they mature into cows.

Jackpot is a proven bull that excels in both composition (marbling and rib eye) along with outstanding maternal traits. He has top 5 percentile Epds for all of the important maternal traits. Calving ease, maternal calving ease, stay and docility.

We keep looking for red bulls to complement our Movin On, and Carry On influenced red cows. This first calf crop of Red Rock bulls is impressive. Very consistent and easy doing.

We used Western Stud to put more punch and middle in some of our cattle and that is exactly what he did. The Marlboro Man, Due North combination has really worked well.

Major Move is unique because of his overwhelming body capacity, weaning weight and muscle. His first calf crop is very impressive in these areas. The soundness and density of his sons is very apparent.

Advantage is a more of an old-style angus bull that is actually a Red Angus. We have been incorporating Advantage in our program for breed diversity as well as function and type. The females in the herd are moderate and big bodied with plenty of calving ease bred in along with marbling. Gateway is making a real effort to make sure our genetics are not related to the popular mainstream genetics available.

Lucky Charm is the best all-around sire we have bred to date for calving ease, “spread” and carcass value. His percentile levels are real high on the traits that are needed for the Simmental breed to be competitive in the commercial cattle industry. There are a lot of cows out there that need help on yield grade and improved Rib-Eye area. Furthermore, with an API index of 126, he has what it takes to improve the female end as well. In addition, he is moderate framed, structured to hold up anywhere and has the capacity to consume and utilize a lot of marginal forage. There is a large influence of his genetics in this sale.
